Pros

A team of hard working employees using a mentoring program for new hires, creating a culture using the best ideas while recognizing individual accomplishments. A competent team working on continual training, structure, and constant growth which afford new departments and programs causing expansion quickly. Above the industry in salary and benefits!

Cons

Not an environment for negative performers or negative personalities.

Thank you for your review. We love that you mentioned our Mentoring Program, as we feel it is vital for our new employees to transition into their position and the culture. ACH is diligent about recognizing their employees so we can attract and keep the best talent possible. Thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Flexible schedule for family issues Encourages growing your knowledge through education Clean facility

Cons

Nepotism-if you're not family, you're replaceable Poor pay/raises-hopefully this has gotten better VP has temper Spends corporate money on very expensive decorations. May look nice, but that's money that could be used towards the betterment of their non-family employees Morale for non family employees is horrible Expensive benefits-hopefully this has improved Not much for career growth as corporate office is small and a majority of leadership positions are reserved for family members

Thank you for your response and for promoting our flexible schedules and professional development opportunities. To address the concern of nepotism or family members receiving preferential treatment, most employees do not know that “family members” have been denied jobs, disciplined, and even terminated. ACH considers all employee hiring decisions, disciplinary measures, and terminations to be confidential. This information will not be shared with staff, regarding any employee, merely to satisfy idle curiosity. Anyone with specific, objective concerns regarding a family member working at ACH has always been encouraged to speak with our President and Chief Operations Officer, a non-family member. To date, no such concerns have been reported to any member of management. In fact, we are so excited about our employee referral bonus program that we encourage our staff to refer their own family and personal friends to work at ACH. This has resulted in multiple families and friends working together. We think this makes for a positive work environment. Décor comes out of a separate budget than employee benefits/wages. We are appreciative that our owners care enough about their staff to dedicate a budget to creating a beautiful work environment. We are proud that the corporate office continues to grow, creating many new open positions. This is evidenced by our organization being named to the INC 5000’s list of fastest growing healthcare companies three times. We now have approximately 60 employees in our corporate office and over 700 nationwide. No management positions have been reserved for family members. We’re pleased to report that yes, raises and benefits have gotten better. Each year we revise our benefits based upon the employee survey. Through employee feedback we are able to give our employees the benefits they want, not what we think they want. We completely agree that we have great employees at Advanced Correctional Healthcare.

Pros

I see some reviews that seem hypercritical of the fact that this company is a family business. I'm frankly dismayed to see this. I came to work for this company as most do, independent of any personal connections. I was neither family, nor friend. I have been made to feel so welcome and supported that I now count my colleagues as my friends and, as near to family as possible. When my family dealt with illness and death of loved ones, management responded with caring and compassion. When my family experienced the joys of pregnancy and birth of children, the response from ACH was celebratory and supportive. I never was made to feel replaceable. I stay with this company because it makes me feel valued. It recognizes my hard work and achievements. It makes me want to be a better person and professional. What is more satisfying that that? I hope to retire from this company as I have found my work home.

Cons

Corrections, in general, and correctional healthcare, in particular, is not a job for everyone. You must have strong intrinsic motivation and be level-headed as it is inherantly wrought with crises. Those who appreciate a challenge will thrive.

Thank you for your review. One of the many great things about this company is the empathy you will receive when warranted. We know our employees work hard for us so in return, we recognize this. We would love for everyone to feel like this is their "work family". As our owners say, "That’s what families do…pull together to support each other when another family member experiences a crisis."
