Pros

Great place to get entry level experience for most Health care positions. Awesome environment to work in early on. Everyone is really friendly (Except for upper management that has no problem lying to your face).

Cons

Moving up in the company is nearly impossible unless you are an Adventist. More qualified employees constantly get passed up for promotion for less qualified employees for this reason. Pay is on the low end of Health Care field. I have had many coworkers leave for the same job at other companies and get 10k more a year and better benefits. Upper management constantly rewards themselves when everyone else has to make cutbacks. Pay scale does not come close to keeping up with cost of living. Having to use my PTO to take flex days because upper management doesn't know how to budget.

Pros

Company shares Christian values and has a broad array of employment opportunities. Nice work environment, with equally nice employees. Very easy to get along with. Very hard to get fired from position. Large revenue growth plan.

Cons

Promotes employees within the Seventh Day Adventist church ahead of other non-church member employees. Non-competitive wages or benefits.

Pros

Adventist has a good overall compensation package and like any other healthcare organization they have good health benefits. Some managers are very understanding regarding PTO.

Cons

Lack of leadership is a systemic problem at Adventist Health. Senior management constantly bad mouths each other in front of staff. Also, if you are Adventist you will have opportunities that non-Adventist do not have. I was in an interview when one Adventist employee said to an Adventist job candidate that he would have more opportunities just because he was Adventist. I cannot tell you the number of times that I have witnessed an Adventist "Prince" or "Princess" screw up with no consequences.
