Got laid off due to them selling the mining division. Not sure it could have been handled less professionally.

This applies to one group, but there is probably significant variation as it is a big company - Decent pay and benefits, not high, not low - Laid back culture - Easy to stand out, as most people are coasting or unorganized - Mostly young friendly coworkers - The constant reactive fixing of issues provides a lot of learning opportunities if you are looking - New CEO give some optimism that some of the core problems may be fixed

Cons

- Very reactionary, with seemingly no understanding of basic project management anywhere - Very siloed, but the projects require cross-functional knowledge and education - Very broken supportive systems (billing, finance, HR, etc.) means a lot of errors and rework, high overheads - Horrible or non-existent quality control - Hard to move new initiatives or improve the above issues, as most people are coasting - Huge management turnover recently - Management knows of the issues, says they will be fixing them, then initiatives stagnate and die without their support - No clear strategy, choice of projects seemingly random - Financial results reflect the issues
