Pros

As someone who has dedicated over a decade of my professional life to Aegis Living, working both within the communities and at the corporate level, I have a unique perspective on what truly sets this organization apart in the senior living industry. What immediately strikes anyone who walks through the doors of an Aegis Living community is the palpable atmosphere of respect. This isn't just a corporate value painted on a wall – it's evident in every interaction between staff and residents. Having witnessed countless daily exchanges over my years of service, I can attest that dignity isn't just promised, it's consistently delivered. Each resident is treated as an individual with a rich life history deserving of honor and respect. Aegis Living has fundamentally reimagined what senior living can be. While the elegant environments certainly rival luxury hotels with their thoughtful design and amenities, Aegis communities offer something hotels cannot: genuine connection and belonging. The physical spaces are meticulously designed to be both beautiful and functional, supporting independence while subtly accommodating changing needs. From thoughtfully placed handrails that blend seamlessly with the decor to lighting designed to reduce confusion for memory care residents, every detail serves a purpose while maintaining aesthetic excellence. What truly distinguishes Aegis is its people. The careful selection and extensive training of staff creates a team that's not only professionally competent but emotionally invested in residents' wellbeing. I've witnessed countless acts of extraordinary compassion – staff members sitting with anxious residents during thunderstorms, learning residents' unique life stories to better connect with them, or going above and beyond to recreate cherished traditions from residents' pasts. This level of personalized attention stems from a staffing model that prioritizes consistent care relationships, allowing deep bonds to form between caregivers and residents. These relationships become the foundation for truly personalized care that adapts to evolving needs while preserving dignity. The social programming at Aegis transcends the typical "activities calendar" found in many facilities. Instead, the Life Enrichment program offers meaningful engagement tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and backgrounds. From cultural outings to intergenerational programs with local schools, from gourmet cooking demonstrations to music therapy – these aren't time fillers, but purposeful experiences that stimulate cognition, foster connection, and bring joy. Having worked closely with the memory care neighborhoods, I've seen firsthand how Aegis' approach makes a profound difference for those living with dementia. The specialized training, environmental design, and innovative programs like the nationally-recognized "Life's Neighborhoods" create spaces where residents with memory challenges can find comfort, meaning, and moments of connection despite cognitive decline. What ultimately makes Aegis exceptional is that it genuinely becomes home. I've watched residents who arrived apprehensive and reluctant transform into engaged community members who thrive in their new environment. Family members who initially felt guilt about the transition later express profound gratitude for the renewed quality of life their loved ones experience. After ten years witnessing the Aegis difference from the inside, I can confidently say this organization doesn't just meet industry standards – it continually sets new ones. For families facing the challenging decision of finding the right support for aging loved ones, Aegis Living provides not just peace of mind, but the comfort of knowing your family member will experience genuine care, dignity, and joy in the later chapters of life.

Pros

Amazing opportunities for our staff for growth. I have been with the company for 12 years and still believe in the care and mission of taking care of our residents as if they were our own. This is also true for my team who all have been with the company for multiple years who have had their own journey to grow within the company. This company believes in the value of our team who are treated like family, robust dementia training and opportunities to develop.

Cons

Like all senior living we went through the unknown of COVID back in 2020, but this company rallied together to put residents and staff first and foremost as the priority.
