Pros

The company is growing quickly by being the low-cost provider in a growing industry. The folks that do the software seem pretty bright.

Cons

There is a definite pay ceiling, and the best folks don't seem to stay long. Their apprenticeship system is isn't very good: the folks that have gone through it aren't very knowledgeable. Everyone seems to hate everyone else at all levels of the company, and there is a severe lack of managerial and technical skill in the machine shop. I ran away from this place.

Pros

Wages: for me wages were competitive from the beginning. After school I just looked up the starting salaries for my field in Pittsburgh and they gave me that. Every year since I had well above national average bumps during my wage reviews, and once I had a surprise wage bump when HR did a wage review of competing salaries. This, combined with the profit sharing and employee stock make it very worthwhile. The employee stock is especially good because it has a compounding effect. Mobility: You will move upward in your roles and responsibilities and if you want to move from development to management I've seen that available as well. I've also seen plenty of people move sideways into different departments and more fitting roles. The point is that I think they recognize talent well and also want to fit people into the roles they are best and happiest at. The People and the Perks: they have a employee car show, bbq, christmas raffles, Galas, and probably other cools things I can't remember. Point is I think it's cooler to work here than a megacorp where you don't know anybody.

Cons

The biggest con for me was the location. Off of the highway in an industrial park is not very bikeable or walkable.

Pros

Allowed workers to expand horizons by taking on work outside the scope of their normal duties. It was most likely in an effort to save money, but it helped employees grow professionally.

Cons

Low pay and not much appreciation for the hard work of their employees. Family owned, allowing family members to step into top managament positions right out of school and with little experience.
