Pros

Great opportunity to work with kids.

Cons

Depending on your Executive Director and their experience you may be a part of a well functioning team or be expected to do four jobs with very little thanks or value.

Pros

If you're passionate about working with kids this use to be a great place to start. Opportunity to make a difference in children's lives that may not otherwise see strong role models.

Cons

Low pay Low hours No breaks (even though "on record" you had one) Very little support from Upper Management Very little communication No accountability Very little recognition unless you suck up to the top People who sucked up but didn't deliver are favored Don't know where all the money is going but it definitely isn't going to the schools and their staff....and all upper management have left or been fired - so there's only one at the top making almost $300,000 a year while her program leaders make $10 which has been the pay since at least 2007.

Pros

Good experience/early exposure to teaching, youth development nonprofits as Program Leaders. Close access and potential for high impact on youth through schools.

Cons

Lack of QUALITY and SUSTAINED support; Disporportionate work distribution and poor compensation for what management demands (even for a non-profit); Lack of professionalism among co-workers - worked for a various nonprofits and work culture/rapport among staff was most disappointing.
