Pros

The engineers and scientists on my team are incredibly talented which makes it a blessing to lead. The most important part that permeates through Agilent is our values, which encourages innovation, open discussion/discourse, and a "can-do" attitude. Agilent hires on culture, so its important that the team members amplify each other's strengths - rather than single hotshots.

Cons

Due to the hiring practices, hiring is often closed off and teams are extremely small (relative to competitors). Due to the lack of people, teams are often driven quite hard nonstop.

Pros

Large publicly traded company with large product portfolio and customer base across numerous industries

Cons

Heavy on bureaucracy and very slow to adapt, outside of acquisitions growth potential is stifled by unfocused and unresponsive management. "Keeping the lights on" mentality prevails pushing out risk taking and innovation. No real ability to advance, performance reviews superficially rubber stamped and goals either unset or ignored over long periods of time. Culture is cliquey and dominated by entrenched long-termers

Pros

Positive business growth. Expanding in the marketplace. Products are excellent and has great name recognition. Really doing good work in and for the world.

Cons

Many employees have been there 30+ yrs. They are very nice but also very stuck in the past. Senior Management is mostly made up of people who used to be in the lower ranks way back when and there are far better qualified people to have their leadership positions than they are. They need to do more hiring from outside their company and try to attract talent suited for the position. Terrible terrible benefits for such a successful company.
