Pros

work life balance friendly and knowledgeable coworkers mediocre health benefits plentiful resources for doing your work it provides a paycheck, sigh

Cons

benefits continue to erode including the stock purchase plan which is now essentially worthless employee demographics is heavily biased towards the long-timers the company seems to have no interest in developing new talent (nor rewarding that talent so that it stays around)

Pros

Flexible working hours medical leave with pay for maternity leave Credit union on ste at larger site great co-workers

Cons

Not great raises if any medical insurance premiums rising, only deductible med plans available so most costs dr visits and rxs are high, almost like not having insurance unitl you reach deductible. You could choose low deductible but it is like paying the deductible up front in the premium I have heard this sort of plan called catastophe insurance b/c it doesn't help unless you have and emergency or need surgery etc. used to have vacation camp site employees could use for free - company sold these

Pros

The hiring in the "good old HP days" was very thorough, and many of these people are still around. Friendly cooperative atmosphere, everybody is trying to do the right thing. Experienced engineers are happy to share their knowledge. Work-life balance is good.

Cons

Pay and benefits used to be great, but they are getting worse every year. Prospects for career advancement are very poor, as the path is blocked by people who have been in their jobs for 20+ years, and are politically well connected. Ranking and pay administration is a joke. Not hiring enough younger people, and not able to hold onto the ones they do hire. This company may implode in 5-10 years when a lot of the baby boomers finally retire and their knowledge is lost. Too few talented younger people will be left to fill the gaps.
