      Good work life balance Competent operational managers Excellent technical team that is a pleasure to work with Recognition bonuses can be very nice if you have the right manager

      Cons

      Strategic direction changes every 2-3 months Frequent layoffs if you’re not in Santa Rosa Senior management now micro-manages the divisions even though they don’t understand the businesses

      * appreciates employees * amazingly flexible work schedules * great benefits * opportunities to move around * casual dress code * fabulous lay-off package

      Cons

      Is the ship going down? When I started in 2000 there were 48,000 employees. Today it's somewhere in the ball park of 15,000, with a much higher percentage in Asia. Much of the US & European offices are reduced. There are always bum managers in every corporation and they do have a few here and there. If you look for it you can find some politics but the majority of people are just there to do their job and do it well.

      Agilent gives one a lot of opportunity and autonomy. If you work hard, you can do well. Employees are top notch, and focused on excellence.

      Cons

      Agilent is in a commoditizing market with a number of nimble competitors, so it is being forced to be extremely lean.
