Pros

Aha! is a great place to work. I find it to be a genuinely caring and supportive environment. Everyone is friendly, involved, and helpful (which is rare these days). I also get to work with some of the smartest and most passionate people. As silly as it sounds, in my time at Aha! I've been most proud to build a React-based `<select>` tag replacement library which enables our users to quickly and easily select from thousands of different options, filter them, and pass those selections to Rails or other Javascript actions. Being responsible for everything from initial design to developer facing API, and having to consider issues such as ease of use, extensibility, performance, and interoperability with other 3rd party libraries, I felt that I "owned" the project. It's rewarding to see my coworkers use it daily and adapt it for uses that I had never envisioned when writing it. I am proud of what we are building as an engineering team and as a company.

Cons

Because you will work with some of the smartest and most passionate people, you continuously need to learn and grow. Otherwise, it is entirely possible you will start to worry that you might be left behind.

Pros

I love the people here. Like many organizations, there are lots of talented and smart people across the company. But a unique factor that I have noticed at Aha! is that no one has a big ego. Everyone knows that they can continue to learn more and improve their craft and this only motivates and drives me to get better as well. Because the organization has a clear vision and a goal-first approach, it makes it easy to stay focused and avoid distractions. It is a pleasure to know that everyone is on the same page and the work that we do will have a significant impact on the business.

Cons

Honestly, I do not have any cons to add.

A great company if you like making customers happy

Pros

A lot of times, developers like myself feel that we're interrupting our flow if we interact directly with customers; it can seem like we are leaving the important work to address urgent concerns. At Aha!, the priorities are re-centered: the most important thing we can do is to help our customers (product managers at many of the largest companies in the world) be awesome at their jobs. In a remote environment, there's plenty of time to go heads-down on impressive technical features, but at Aha! engineers spend one of every 5 or 6 weeks interacting directly with customers on the support rotation, solving their problems in near real-time. Initially, I thought I would hate that part of the job. I love it about as much as our customers do. We usually get a response like "Wow, I can't believe you made that change so fast" or "Without exception, you guys are the best! Your ability to make customers like me so dedicated to you is practically magical." We even have a slack channel to track quotes like this so we can measure the amount of joy and happiness that we bring into the world. We present on it at our bi-annual company meetings. In any other company, this would be a vanity metric that excuses a lack of revenue growth. But Aha! is wildly profitable and growing rapidly: in part because we take this extra measure to make sure our customers love what we do. And it's incredibly motivating to see the features that we work on actually being used by grateful product managers.

Cons
