Poor relationship with Pilot Union. Current employees not seen good enough to promote up to management. Outsourced recruiters don’t know business. New hires paid better than current employees. Upper management seems to only see MBA applicants as useful. World revolves around KPIs.

A lot of tedious tasks are dumped on Area Managers. The job is all management, no leadership. The Area Manager is focused on keeping bases 'in-service' so the helicopters and crews can complete their mission; however, there are no assets to help drive this KPI due to shortages of resources (shortages of pilots, mechanics, and clinical staff; very few spare aircraft available, hit-or-miss supply system, etc.). The company is also facing stiff headwinds due to the No-surprise Act that Congress passed in early 2022. At the time of writing this, the company is in a hiring freeze and has closed 17 bases in the midwest--I would imagine more contraction in 2023.
