Pros

Benefits can be appealing Food is healthy There are some really good people

Cons

Very hard to grow internally. False promises of belonging. Core Values are not necessarily embraced by managers or peers. You might give your absolute best but the system in place might never benefit you. Being a person of color will be an additional burden.

Pros

Perfect for those who like to travel and have a flexible schedule. Free food, great benefits, wonderful work culture. Plenty of chances to work cross functionally outside of the Public Policy department

Cons

Upward mobility is nearly impossible for this role. In 4 years, only 3 people have been promoted from this position into a more senior position.

Design gets big respect

Pros

So great to be in a company where I don't have to constantly sell the need for design, content, and research. Design-led is accepted and embraced way of working at Airbnb. Designers are more like product managers at other companies, making business cases, and leading the full vision for new products and features. The Design team is super, super talented too. The best I've ever work with.

Cons

The only real bummer is the product team is terrible. I still have no idea what product managers do here. They aren't decision makers, they don't drive the business case, and they don't seem to have any responsibility for team culture. If Airbnb could solve this, they'd be unstoppable.
