Pros

Good Benefits. Vacations and paid time off. District Managers and AVP are great try their best to be fair and help employees where they are allowed. Met great people who were fun to work with.

Cons

Not all districts are run the same. Poor “UPPER” management with no clue as to what goes on with the day to day operations of Airgas as a whole and their locations. Requiring AVP’s and District Managers to be miracle workers always having to fix issues that were not necessary and could’ve been avoided. Poor training and support for the employees. Run extremely short staffed and require others to do the job of many. Manage in fear with some employees allowing them to get away with unethical behavior. Safety is supposed to be #1 at Airgas above everything and it’s situational. Spend less time talking and more time doing. Airgas management will leave stores staffed with one person handling cylinders and running store at same time. This is not safe and creates staff to be exhausted, completely unsafe and resentful. Employees are not valued or looked upon as an asset for their hard work, dedication and commitment. Low morale with in Regions ( Northeast/SNE specifically). Airgas’s problems are a result of a company that refuses to fix its dysfunctional culture Airgas upper managerial stubbornness to sheer incompetence.

Pros

compensation, benefits, location, co-workers, on site cafeteria.

Cons

The management in the cash application department stops short of pulling out a whip. Other reviewer hit the nail right on the head. Managers really do troll up and down the isles to make sure you're working. In the morning it's under the pretense of saying "good morning" when, really, it's just the first fly by of the day. And no exaggeration on the "no talking" issue either. Unless you're one of the chosen few, you better just keep your face to your screen and fingers on the keyboard. The majority of people in this department are miserable. At month end mandatory overtime is called. At least two hours during the week and Saturday if necessary. The OT is called without notice so if you have any plans for that evening(s) or Saturday, forget it! You no longer own the last week of every month. It belongs to Airgas. And when are most of the 3 day weekends? Yep, end of the month. I hated being treated like a pack mule there. The employees are just ground down with the unrealistic work load. And management implements one ill though idea after another on how to run the department which just generates more chaos and re-work.
