Aktion Associates is a great company. People seem to work here for a very long time, and there are a lot of different job roles available. Within this technology company focusing on a few key industries and platforms, I’ve worked with network engineers, application consultants, trainers, sales reps, data center staff, network operations center staff, and of course, managers of different groups, departments, or practices. My experience at Aktion has been thoroughly rewarding, both in terms of job satisfaction and compensation. During my time here, I have found that management has an open ear for good ideas, a high level of business acumen, and a desire to help the staff achieve the highest levels of success. Regular corporate meetings give every employee the opportunity to see, understand, and share in the company's success – usually directly from the CEO or President. Individuals who have performed well are frequently recognized and rewarded during these events, and management seems very dedicated to the well-being of the Aktion workforce. The idea of cadence/meetings and participation for everyone runs deep here. In a reflection of the direct communications from leadership, managers put a lot of effort into providing meaningful content on a regular basis to their teams. From engineers, sales reps, and application consultants to managers, VPs, and above - communication is a key component to success at Aktion.
Cons
The work is demanding, both in terms of volume and in terms of complexity. In this industry, keeping up with technology, and staying current on software or industry changes is a job in and of itself. The customer set is very large, and there are a lot of different services needed to keep them all running and happy. The culture is one that has all company staff with at least some customer-facing service activity, from leadership on down, as well, so everyone has a hand in making sure that the customers receive good service and follow up. I believe management generally does a good job of trying to help with work allocation to keep people busy without being overloaded, but this can be challenging during certain times of year or when communications break down for any reason. Managers do generally have an open-door policy, and apart from a couple of scathing reviews on this site, I’ve never heard that anyone was refused a fair hearing with any type of issue or complaint, or was denied help when they asked for it. Compensation-wise, Aktion does a great job of rewarding effort. The base salary is decent, but the overall pay can be amazing, with the variable being performance. This can be based on hours billed, or sales, or a couple of other things depending on what your role is.
