Pros

- Alarm.com is a SUPER fun company to work for. Lots of events during the work day, quirky and neat office (hidden ping pong room for instance) - Great atmosphere, and genuinely great collaboration between co workers and teams

Cons

- The company likes to act like its Google or other big tech companies (root beer on tap!) but it is really quite traditional. Very hesitant to change, process improvements are met with tons of resistance. "This way has been working for us so far" - Comp and benefits are not very competitive, at least for my role. No equity, just base salary with a small bonus that was never the full amount. Only 2 weeks parental leave for non-birth parents? - Trying to advance upwards was very frustrating. No clear path, no feedback. You'd either not be promoted or get a surprise email saying you've been promoted out of the blue.

Pros

Great people, work environment, culture. Personal desk space. Understanding management. Training and resources are vast Plenty of room to grow within.

Cons

Communication is lacking from some departments. If you're a contingent you really are punished for working as hard or if not harder than others. HR doesn't seem to care about you if you fall into temp/contingent category. Can be overwhelming at times.

Pros

Flexible work hours — but not always! You better hope you don’t have a micromanaging boss, which is almost every manager at ADC.

Cons

- I was never trained for my role. I had to learn by pestering others to help me and they had to stop doing their work to answer questions I should’ve been trained on. - Managers are spineless and look out for themselves. - Weird misogynistic culture. My department tries fostering a tech bro vibe but you need a personality for that. - Low pay for the work you do. - Extreme micromanaging. - Managers disappear during the day to run errands or hang out and leave employees to put out fires they’re not supposed to. - Leadership is clueless. - Company lacks direction.
