Pros

The products are super fun to work on, you get to do super important work that is pushed to customers right away and it's common consumer technology that is intuitive and fun to innovate on. In terms of user and product, this is most Product Managers' dreams.

Cons

Bit of an ancient company. I believe their smart security technology rivals any out there, but the business model of not selling direct to consumers is a result of decades being in the business and is a bit outdated. Because of this, they definitely are not a household name and often the business model outweighs innovation. Though it is a huge, public tech company with very smart people, the talent and dedication does not rival that of FAANG or other household name tech companies. Pay is alright for tech, but would not poach any talented engineers from bigger companies.

Pros

Once in a blue moon you get interesting work.

Cons

Long hours, low pay, terrible and unprofessional management who's willing to cut corners at the expense of engineers and developers. If you are looking for a competent company, run.

Not a great place to grow

Pros

- Benefits are fairly decent - The culture is amazing! I don’t think you can find a better culture than at alarm.com. Everyone is so supportive and helpful with everything! The life as an ADC employee is always fun and entertaining. There is no dull moment. Everyone is like family and when you have to make a decision to leave, it becomes the most toughest thing ever because of the tight knit community at ADC. Unfortunately, that is the only pro I can give.

Cons

- Compensation, compensation, compensation! They use you. You will NOT get paid what you deserve. ADC is a great place to begin and start your career, but it is not a place where you can stay for a long time. And compensation is the number 1 reason why. They love hiring new people, but wish they would do everything in their power to retain the talent they already have. Compensation is a huge problem here, so if you want to get paid well this is not the place for you. - Career growth and opportunities is a bare minimum here. And even if there are opportunities, it doesn’t have any benefit because back to the compensation topic you don’t get fairly paid for taking on new challenges and responsibilities. An individual’s growth in their career is lacking here. If you’re looking for a constant challenge you won’t find that here. - There’s a lot of micro-management here for some departments. Everyone who works at Alarm are all grown adults who know their responsibilities and their role. But yet there is a ton of micromanagement involved which makes you feel under appreciated at times. - Sometimes the work you do feels like it’s under valued and under appreciated because it all goes back to the compensation where you don’t get your money’s worth fulfilling the role you do. - Title changes take FOREVER and sometimes never even happen. In the beginning you’re promised a lot and then it takes forever for anything to get done. You’ll be told about a potential promotion, but it’ll be a year or two before you actually get it. And sometimes you never the get the promotion you’re promised. - Poor management at times
