Fantastic Leadership in a Time of Uncertainty

Pros

*Note - I was not asked to write a review, nor am I being incentivized. I am not a member of the executive team. I feel like angry people are more compelled to write negative reviews, and I think what we're seeing on this page is a reflection of that. - Not a single job was lost as a result of COVID-19. The leadership team went above and beyond to ensure that. Sure, some things were cut, but this company put it's employees first, and continues to do so. I feel very fortunate to be working for a company like this. We've all been successfully working from home without any pressure to return to the office, if we do not feel safe doing so. - Since the outbreak began, the leadership team has been extremely transparent about current company endeavors, hiring plans, and financial and sales metrics. They're a total open book, and that's empowering to me. David, our CEO, hosts weekly fireside chats to the whole company and updates everyone on the current goings-on, and offers everyone a platform to ask questions or express concerns. In our monthly company huddles, employees can also ask questions anonymously, and they'll be read and answered. - Vertical communication is better than ever (surprisingly, given our current WFH status). I feel like, if I needed to, I can get one-on-one time with our CEO (not that I would really need to for the most part). Communication with my direct report is a Slack call away. Despite being isolated at home, I don't feel isolated from my team, which is really nice. - On to the platform itself - our Technology team is just incredible. I won't post any spoilers, but the amount of work they put into our platform daily is mind-blowing, and we've got some incredible things in the pipe that will transform our positioning in the market. It's really exciting to see these changes happening in real time and so rapidly. We've got some superheroes over there who are able to juggle so many things at once. Seriously, kudos to them for all of their hard work on a daily basis. - Our Sales teams are excellent ambassadors for our product and service offerings. You speak to any of our managers or directors and you can feel their excitement for our platform, especially with all of the new solutions we've rolled out recently. - Our Support and Customer Success teams are off-the-charts amazing. I love working with each of them, and I've never had a bad experience. They work so hard to ensure the phones are answered 24/7, and know our platform front to back. I think SurveyGizmo is going to do big things - not just because of the platform, but because of the people here. I'll admit I've had my doubts working here in the past, as everybody has had at any company, but the way our leadership team has handled the COVID response has made me realize how lucky I am to be here. All while continuing to press on to improve our product and service offerings in a way that's never been done before. Anyway, rant over.

Cons

Current company goals are very ambitious, and people are stretched thin trying to meet deadlines. I feel like this is pretty well known throughout, and there are hiring initiatives in place to help mitigate this. But don't expect an easy ride here - everyone works hard.

Will things turn around? Probably not, but here's to hoping.

Pros

Incredibly friendly and intelligent coworkers that are always willing to help and have fun. A few managers will work hard to help you learn and grow your career. Pretty cool product when it works :)

Cons

Management. Some managers are not mature enough for the position. They will often have outbursts when you ask for help or want to discuss something further. During one meeting, someone asked for clarification and a manager proceed to yell and curse at the team then proceeded to slam their laptop down and storm out of the room. This manager is not comfortable with coaching which hinders the team as a whole. Success comes from coaching and encouragement NOT eye-rolls and accusations. Quotas are unrealistic given the current state of the product. It is hard to increase prices and upsell when the product can't keep up with updates and continually has infrastructure problems. The customers are not ignorant and the company cannot keep giving the same excuses. Support and Engineering try their best but the investment is being pushed into hiring more salespeople rather than the product. Commission Plans - To any new hires or potential appliers - be aggressive to ensure you receive a comp plan BEFORE accepting the job. Ask thorough questions. Management will claim they don't know what's going on, they don't have power over that or just lie to you about what you will be paid. The comp plan might look great, but given your quota - you won't get paid anything past your base.

Our product is pretty cool – thanks. And we do have friendly and intelligent team members. During these COVID times, our people are engaged and united in supporting each other and our customers. We will continue to invest in our Managers and Directors to build their leadership and management skills, and we continually identify other opportunities for folks who want to learn and grow their careers with us. -David Roberts, CEO

Pros

It's a very "Start-up" feel, which I personally like, but if fast paced isnt your thing, then you can add this to cons. The service/software itself is actually pretty cool and can help literally ANY business and person. Dont be fooled by the janky name, its a powerful tool.

Cons

Zero transparency, lies, incest, power struggles with management, compensation is bull as well. They like to make you think they are competitive, but when I was searching elsewhere, almost EVERY other company paid quite a bit more than SurveyGizmo. After leaving, I was told about some commission and pay issues, multiple people being cheated out of money - I had my suspicions about my own which is why I left. Also making half the sales team reach insurmountable goals to avoid actually paying them out.

One of the best things about working for SurveyGizmo is that our employees can take initiative and make a difference for the company. We recognize that our name, which helped us grow for so many years, no longer reflects the power and capabilities that our software provides. The rest of this post is difficult to address. The key point that I would like to address is about transparency – and we are receiving fantastic feedback from employees about transparency and communication right now. -David Roberts, CEO
