Pros

Great people. Benefits are good. Can't think of any other positive things to say. Bonus is nice to reward your employees...

Cons

Absolutely no work life balance if you work in the Finance department. You are over worked and if you are a great performer your reward is to get buried with more "busy" work and stupid meetings that accomplish nothing. On top of that they don't get rid of people who can't do their jobs so you have to do that as well. They don't treat you like a person. Upper management just screams at you if you make a mistake. Even if it's not your mistake they scream at you and make you do it .. Nobody has any personal responsibility. You work 12 hours come home and eat and then guess what?? It's time to open up the laptop and work some more. Working here has made me depressed and anxiety ridden. I don't get to eat dinner with my family. It's so hard on my family that I'm always at work. So not worth it.

Pros

Huge company with lots of locations and business units, excellent name recognition, opportunities to learn if you want to take it upon yourself to do so.

Cons

Extremely political and if you are not one of the group or if someone in the group is threatened by you, your skills and abilities or education level, then look out. You will not have the opportunities to advance as you should.

Pros

Alcoa had great people and benefits.

Cons

subject to market conditions and can be let go for any reason; you knew it was an at will company, just never thought being laid off would happen
