Pros

I am coming up on my two year anniversary at Alliance and it has been through some major changes and accomplished a lot in that time. There is a real team spirit in many departments and good natured competiveness between the different sites. There is a culture of hard work and expectations are high, but the people who work there are extremely smart and dedicated to their jobs. I have worked in non profits most of my life, and the culture of service to the clients we serve indirectly is very important to me. The work challenges me at times and there can be a lot of learning as you go, but I feel I have good supervision and support. Benefits are good - Alliance pays full medical for us employees, and dental and vision is also available for fairly cheap. Salaries are consistent with non profit work world. Not fabulous, compared to the high end companies, but good when you consider that it is such a new company and is somewhat of a governmental agency.

Cons

I think the constant feeling of change is difficult for many of us and finding a balance between work and home is also a challenge. But both of those would be present to some degree in any job. I don't see that as unique to Alliance. There is a lot going on outside of the company that is beyond their control. For me, the pros outweigh the cons.

Horrible and more horrible

Pros

Benefits are good but the mandatory 6% from your check negates that.

Cons

I worked on many projects where the vendors were friends or relatives of upper management no matter on the quality of the product. The only people promoted are the ones that kiss the most butt or are friends of management. The ex CEO was a joke and created a terrible work environment.

Experiences vary by site

Pros

You gain tons of experience in the mental health field at the administration level - you usually don't work face to face with clients unless you are doing a care review or housing or something. Benefits are great! Depending on the office you're in, you work with professionals who are laid back, talented and helpful. The "corporate" site seems to be really stiff, conservative and inflexible

Cons

The pay is horrible for most positions. Really appears to be a good ole boys network - some people have gotten promoted over others when they really don't have the experience, competence, or management ability. Everybody in upper management pretty much looks alike - they are white. (I'm white too, but a little diversity at the top never hurt anybody)
