Pros

The benefits, PTO are decent

Cons

Their priority is buying up agencies across the country and then eventually they shut offices and push good employees out. The Kool Aid mentality is rampant and they are too busy patting themselves on the back for how wonderful they think they are . Your input doesn't matter if it doesn't fit their fantasy.

Not what I was expecting

Pros

"Entrepreneurship" aka flexibility, SOME genuinely good people. Another pro is that I now know with other companies, it can't get much worse than this when it comes to benefits and culture.

Cons

No training, no managers who can appropriately manage people, below market benefits, and overall, culture is somewhat toxic.

Pros

The environment is friendly for the most part. Both holiday hours and PTO are pretty generous. Holiday hours are a plus! Work life balance is pretty decent if you stick to specific hours each day. The merge of the original Alliant Chicago office and Chicago Mesirow went very well. Office is located in a great, nice location.

Cons

I’ve been working at Mesirow for a little over a decade now and we are truly behind speed with the market in terms of competitors and perks. Most companies/competitors, if not all, can wear jeans on a daily basis but we’re still only allotted one day. The company being comprised of nothing but adults leads me to believe that all employees can make the right decision by wearing jeans daily and still maintaining a professional look. Might not seem like a significant issue but everyone around the office complains about this and wishes they could wear jeans daily. Simple issue….simple solution to make a big impact/difference. Another issue is that all employees can work from home based on the granted access, but it all depends on manager approval. This should be allowed a few times a month because almost everything can be done from a computer or laptop remotely. Still in the stone ages apparently.. These little perks make life a whole lot easier. Expensive dental due to voluntary coverage.
