Pros

Growing cooperative with diversified lines of business that stress service to their customers as a priority, along with superior products. Good competitive benefits, fast paced working environment with good growth opportunities.

Cons

Not any different than any other business environment in todays world.

Pros

Benefits are STRONG for the areas they represent! Great health benefits, investing in your retirement through 401k matches and optional profit sharing and a bunch more. Being a bigger player means bigger benefits. I see this happening through bonuses and incentives. Employees are being evaluated regularly and offered opportunities to learn how to do their jobs better through professional conferences, training sessions and in-house career training sessions (how to read financial statements, create a budget, inter-personal conversations for work...)

Cons

It is a full service farmers coop. It hinges heavily on seasonality and because of this, the hours can be crazy during those peak seasons. I think they are upfront about those issues though-they are working on evening the load in operations. It doesn't happen overnight but I see a lot of work in the background looking at these issues. Sometimes that isn't realized company wide. As the co-op gets bigger it experiences 'growing pains'. It is hard on all the staff-old and new comers. Managers seem to be working to make improvements to not go through hiccups with each merger.

Pros

Great benefits. Believes in promoting from within. Good place to grow a career. Many people spend their entire careers in the co-op. A great team/family environment.

Cons

The hours can be long in some departments during peak season due to the seasonal nature of agriculture, but they compensate you for it, and the busy season is relatively short.
