Pros

A great aspect about AlloSource is that it is a mission driven nonprofit organization that seeks to give back to their employees and community. I work in Operations as a tissue processing technician (Monday-Thursday). The schedule is technically a night shift but this has been a perfect transition for me from the college world into the working world! Having 3 day weekends (Friday-Sunday) is something that I cherish. A processing technician can work independently or with a small team so there is variety to what you do each day. Allosource also seems to choose hiring/promoting from within over hiring from outside the company.

Cons

Working in a controlled work area (cleanroom) can be a challenge until you are adjusted to the schedule.

Pros

Benefits , ability to work in biologics, you are providing a useful and life altering product.

Cons

Low opportunity for growth, highly rule oriented, high turn over rate, very physically punishing. I worked here for over 3 years and there were a lot of drawbacks. Promotions were based solely on popularity rather than knowledge or time spent with the company. To get a promotion into the office setting was nearly impossible unless you knew someone high in the chain. There is a definitive class system between the operations team and the office staff. Office staff, also referred to as carpet walkers, regularly look down upon the operations staff. I had even had a manager who said that the office staff look down upon the managerial staff of operations. Punishment for subpar work or even a small mistake was often more severe than necessary and includes the ability to suspend future raises. Operations is highly taxing on your body. I worked multiple departments inside the clean area(core) and developed severe arthritis in my hands, neck, back and shoulders... mostly everyone in this department does. Nearly everyone I worked alongside hated their job. I personally stayed in hopes of promotion or so that I could use Allosource as a stepping stone to a better career but unless your staying in the donor services most of the knowledge you accrue at Allosource doesn’t translate to other careers. My recommendation if your looking into a career with Allosource in the operations department is to keep looking for another job. This is by far the worst job I ever had and the only thing I learned from this job was that it was a terrible mistake that took over 3 years of my life and only gave me chronic arthritis.

Pros

They have a great vision but...no one follows it

Cons

They hire within and even if you don't have the education as long as you have the experience in the Core the job is yours. People can't figure out a Word doc. but get office jobs? Managment are idots and have no idea whats going on. The CEO tries to but his nose into everything but can't wrap his head around any of it. They have no respect for people or their lives. They are a money hungry, "non profit"
