Pros

- Work is not hectic -Small company so all employees know each other -Performers are recognized -Shift allowances are good if you work in shifts

Cons

Some policies regarding payment of performance linked bonus, reimbursements etc are bad. Payments are made once per year only. On your offer letter you get a big figure, however the money that actually flows in is much less. They keep a substantial amount in a kitty that an employee will get after retirement at age of 65. No one retires from IT company in India. Appraisal each year is very less. So get a good salary when you join in. No onsite opportunities. If you go for 30 days training abroad then there is a bond on 6 months. If you go for 31 days or more the bond is for 1 year. The fine for breaking bond is HUGE.

Pros

Exposure to some of the newest technologies. Great folks to work with, and pockets of profoundly smart people. Management really seems to care about their team members. There's also some encouragement to explore and learn (with company financial support for some of it).

Cons

The three biggest challenges: Getting very process heavy, which seems counter-productive given all the talk around "innovation". The running joke has become "you can't take a piss without getting a project code signed off by the strategy committees." For some reason, internal communication is one of ECLP's biggest hurdles. We like our social networking software, email and meetings. There's been a lot of effort to provide us with communication tools and technology, but the *content* isn't there. There's little to no communication around product strategy, for example. There's no *why* being communicated around our initiatives. Or if that communication happens, it doesn't seem to reach the troops. Finally, there's spotty quality. This isn't unusual given an industry where someone with three years of just showing up to the job earns you a "Senior" title. There seem to be a number of development teams where the barrier to entry just isn't that high (have a pulse and be able to spell "WCF") or where the dev leads aren't actually *leading*. There are various "initiatives", but very, *very* little actual effort is spent actually *doing* the practices that lead to quality software.
