      I've got a great idea - let's buy lots of companies and take away their value and then sell it all at half off!

      Pros

      industry is growing and they have means of continuing in the field

      Cons

      not a lot of market enlightened people in the executive ranks - lets face it these guys are finance people who saw an undervalued asset and thought they could flip it quickly - tullman and shapiro are lost in healthcare and have no idea how to succeed in this market. now they are stuck with pump and dump ideas in a steady as she goes industry. I've got a great idea - lets pay 300M for one company, then "merge" it with another company across town for about the same price.

      Buyer Beware! Do your homework before taking the leap (of faith) to Eclipsys.

      Pros

      It sounds boring but the best aspects of working for Eclipsys, or any company in the healthcare information technology space, is two-fold. First, you typically have an opportunity to work with some very bright and decent people at the company itself. Second, the healthcare field is a field with many hard-working, passionate people dedicated to improving the lives of those in their communities.

      Cons

      The senior leadership of this company continues to evolve without much to show for it (i.e., low KLAS scores, high turnover, sub-par products, etc.). Many of the senior leaders are too Machiavellian for this industry. The focus is on "sell, sell, sell' but not 'build quality software, meet the needs of our customers, make Eclipsys a great place to work, etc." Too much focus on outsourcing many of the non-maintenance development jobs overseas. There's a great deal of uncertainty about their success, given that many larger firms have not been successful developing software in places like India. The words from the CEO sound good, but the actions don't, for sure!

      The degree of support available is not equal to the expectations. The sales team often sells "vaporware" requiring analysts to back-pedal in front of clients
