Pros

You'll be exposed to the insurance market, auto and home insurance and commercial lines and opportunities to improve customer service skills. You can use this knowledge to shift to other jobs in the insurance industry or elsewhere.

Cons

Low pay, no benefits and no job security. Many companies will hire individuals with no insurance experience, no licenses and sad to say, no ethical standards. There is a reason why insurance companies are finding it difficult to hire licensed and experienced agents.

Pros

Coworkers are amazing. Great people work for the company. Opportunity to create meaningful relationships with clients & get referrals. Pay is great, I had money to burn with this job. I had not ever been so financially stable before.

Cons

The fact of the matter is, Allstate at its highest level of the company is a mess. They have had multiple restructures within the last year alone (you can find legitimate & credible news articles all over in a quick google search). The training you receive is less than optimal. Once you get your licenses, you are thrown to the lions. I had NO shadowing opportunities or mentoring during the entire time I was employed there. Only training videos, most of which were impossible to understand as the videos were demonstrating older systems that the company no longer used. Despite these things, it did take me some time to ramp up to make money, but I did become successful. I had the best paying job of my life here. However, I found out that the company is quick to cut people in order to save themselves money. Even if 2 weeks prior you were a top producer, you can be let go without reason or documentation in a "Last one in-first one out" type situation in the your agency owner or Allstate corporate decides to save a dollar for themselves. Attendance, customer service skills, dedication, consistent positive customer feedback, coming in early/staying late, coming into the office amid a worldwide pandemic... none of that matters. I had not one single "coaching" for performance of any sort, and was blindsided by being let go. If you go into this position, do not expect the pay they quote you. Do not expect good training. Do not expect management/agency owners that actually care. Do not expect constructive feedback from your management. Do not expect development coaching. You wont get that here. Expect to be doing this all on your own.
