Pros

WFH opportunities Generous 401k matching policy Pension Lots of room to move around because the company is so big Discounts on insurance and other products through their partnerships Education assistance Decent onboarding process

Cons

Very hard to move up in the ranks quickly enough when starting from entry level. Outside of using Unix/Java the company doesn't really embrace open source technology and was 95% Microsoft (Exchange / Office / Sharepoint) at the time I left. Ultimately I see this as a negative because it likely puts them in a position of spending lots of extra money on those licenses and being less agile when it comes to development of new systems or fixing the old legacy ones.

Company is killing itself

Pros

Good hours-Monday through Friday, and you're usually out by 5:30 or 6:30 Co-workers were all great

Cons

Allstate is bleeding money, and corporate is trying to fix it by raising prices, implementing 33% deposits for people with lower insurance scores, making customers prove insurance history, divorce status, etc. therefore cutting down on the applicable discount agents can offer them. You're expected to work about 50 hours a week for a base salary that comes out to around 7.50 per hour-less than minimum wage. Commission is a joke, unless you can sell a huge amount of business, which no one can, because Allstate's prices are non-competetive, especially for normal lower to middle class income earners. WAY more cold calling then you would expect, because most people buy online now, walk-ins and call-ins are rare. In addition, most agents and owners have no idea what they're doing because the turnover rate is so high.

Pros

The company is growing. This allows more opportunity for employees to develop their careers and not stay stagnant. Allstate is committed to their employees and customers. Overall leadership is approachable and works well together.

Cons

Staffing. A lot of claims and not enough talent. This puts enormous pressure on our existing staff. With growth, comes growing pains. This has presented a challenge with morale.
