Pros

Allstate does currently have some of the best benefits in the industry even compared to Fortune 500. With the market cap decrease and pressures on ROI, it might not be to long before they decide to go the way of IBM and others and change from having two retirement plans; 401K and a pension to only one and cap the other plan.

Cons

very political. If you have the right sponsor you go far quickly. If not it's a long "job".

Pros

Management is very fair, can give feedback and opinions mattered We had a committee which gave feedback to manangement. A annual review of managers was done and uppper level reviewed the comments made and action was taken. Management acknowledged you every day. You were meet with monthly to discuss how you are doing. Dress code was casual if goals were met. Employees were rewarded for a job well done. The location was good and parking was free. Education was stressed and growth in the position. The benefits were good and tuition reimbursement was available. Able to pursue higher education

Cons

Time off was hard to get. If you missed more than 4 times you were written up in one year.

Pros

Allstate possibly has one of the most friendliest and most die-hard working people out there. The front-line managers are always there for you whether for a question or concern. Most of the time, if you do good/do right, management will leave you alone. Almost a family friendly atmosphere where co-workers and fellow managers asks and share about their weekends, and days off. Majority are great people. Some may be lacking. Very flexible with PTO. Benefits are great, even though there was a slight increase this year.

Cons

The very low starting salary. I can a-test other employers do start about $6,000 more for claim adjusters in property. The workload is impossible. Not close but IS impossible with the workload. Turn-around has started to pick due to the economy cut-backs and increase workload for those who choose to stay with Allstate. The moral within the company has dwindled to near effortless-non-motivated performance. With the above mentioned about the positives, it has come to realization upper management from regional/home office are dictating the obscene requirements and constant cutbacks to save the company money. To be honest, this has been going on for the past three years ever since our new claims system rolled out. And this is possibly the worse that it has been as I've been with this office for 10+ years. It just all seems down-hill from here. I must admit, I have heard the top three people I believe in my office mention they cannot keep up and its almost to a point they're about to break as well. Fatigue and exhaustion is catching up.. WE'RE ALL WORKING VERY HARD
