Pros

Great experience, but lack of direction at both operations and tech levels. They cannot seem to blend well.

Cons

Company is in very precarious financial position with little to no way to gain traction. Not stable and is in serious danger.

"When Loyalty Goes Wrong"

Pros

Great business concept with financial backing from loyal investors.

Cons

In Texas workplace loyalty is common. Businesses hire people they feel comfortable with. Friends, family, people they know, people they can control and intimidate in order to tow the line. Unfortunately, integrity, accountability and competence are forgotten. Its only a matter of time before the implosion occurs. The company is not built for the long term, its built to be sold so someone else can fix it. Investors want their ROI and the owners want to run off with a bag so they can wake up and go to the country club to play golf everyday and never have to work again. THAT'S THE AMERICAN DREAM. Screw the customer, screw the workers who make that dream possible!

Don't do it

Pros

-W2 paid hourly -you drive a buick which is a small suv - become a better driver overall because it forces you to follow the rules with the progress report every week

Cons

-Unlike Uber, not using your own phone; they will assign you a phone the connects to the car. You have to store your phone in the glove compartment while on the job. If you grab it while driving you will get reported. -You actually will not know if a trip will be over an hour or 8 minutes, the Alto app will not tell you. Got penalized because I had to drive a lady from Santa Monica to Long Beach which was an hour drive. I got penalized because I didnt take my break before driving back to the driving area (because I had to drive back to Santa Monica). -Incredibly difficult to find a restroom while on the job, Any break you try to do will be deducted from your pay. You have to be resourceful in finding a restroom. -The LEADS have a horrible attitude! probably the worst I have ever seen. They firmly believe that because they have that position they can play with everyone's schedule which I think is not good overall for morale. SEVERAL of them are just arrogant, One girl bosses people around because she feels like she can, another SUPPOSEDLY does the scheduling after the computer JUMBLES everyone for next week. Basically they alter it after the computer sets the scheduling for the upcoming week. There is no proper communication within all the leads. One told me one thing while the other had no idea the previous lead did not know how to do a certain thing. Just overall not a good team. -For THIS reason, they have a REVOLVING door of people joining and leaving/quitting. One even got let go after two days. They will never have good morale for this reason. The trainers will eventually become numb and mechanical with anyone who gets hired because they act like they may not last. -evetime a passenger leaves you have 2 minutes to clean the car. scrubbing the floor/cleaning the interior/cleaning the glass/waxing the the outside of the car. That will take more than 2 minutes. -Like everyone says there is no Uniform stipend, they give you two shirts, a cap and a black jacket with the alto name You have to buy the shoes (white or black) and black dress pants. -You get assigned 8 hours but its really 7.30 hours due to the lunch break. I firmly believe if not for regulations they will make you work past 8 hours. -Dispatch actually has to prepare for your breaks, you cannot do it on your own. They REGULARLY forget to send you on break. Most of the time very unresponsive as well. you end shift could be at 5 pm but they assign you a ride at 4:50 for example and work past your end time. -You will get the upper class people who asks for extra things from time to time. Make you wait over an hour, make you drive additional extra trips without alerting dispatch (so for example a simple can be become a multi stop drive). This will set you back. -They make you use google maps ONLY because the phone they use is a samsung. It is horrible because the app will freeze, lose connection, or not update at all when driving leading to confusion. Also not the best when dealing with traffic and directions.
