Pros

- You learn a lot - Learning to stand up for yourself (cause you’ll have to to avoid the bullying from senior management cliques)

Cons

Wow. Where can I start? This job completely ruined my mental health. The workplace politics is heavy and the senior directors talk trash about other lower level employees on meetings to boost their fragile egos. I used to get panic attacks before meeting with these two horrible people who were workplace “besties” where they’d gang up and do everything in their power to humiliate me in front of others in the meeting. One director scolded me because I wasn’t outgoing enough and told me I should expect to be on the clock 24/7 even on vacation and sick days because that is simply “expected.” I wasn’t even paid well. I was ridiculed daily, never once given positive feedback, and micromanaged 24/7 so they could call me out and publicly embarrass me. They had no training and expected me to know everything right out the gate. I still have ptsd from this place and don’t know how I made it through this dark time but these people are downright evil and truly hate themselves. Don’t let them bully you. The second the bullying starts, stand up and LEAVE.

Pros

- Great compensation structure where everyone is paid out a percentage of their billable hours. Senior Associates can end up with 20-90% of their base pay paid out as bonus depending on their billable hours and performance.

Cons

- Terrible work/life balance. Expect to work 70+ hours a week consistently and most weekends. Also expect to work during most holidays including Thanksgiving and Christmas. - The firm is able to pay people more than the big 4 and other firms, but that's only because they severely understaff their projects. - Training programs are very subpar compared to the big 4. - Everyone at every level is always extremely busy (including managers, directors, and MDs). Because of this, don't expect to get a lot of help from them. - If you work here, it will take you at least another 1-2 years to get promoted over the people at the big 4. For example, to make manager at the big 4, most people have 5 years of experience. To make manager at A&M, they want you to have 7-8 years of total experience before promoting to manager. Also it is much more difficult to get promotions here than at the big 4.
