Pros

getting to work on massive scale; seeing how the whole process works; there really is a lot of ownership given to smart developers and teams, with mostly fairly little oversight. You are surrounded by smart and passionate engineers, for the most part, who have choices and want to be there.

Cons

no concern whatsoever for work v. personal life, with the examples starting from the VP level on down; developers spend much more time supporting legacy systems than writing new code; pager duty is unpredictable and can be nightmarish, inducing Stockholm Syndrome; more politics every year that make the place genuinely not fun to put your head down and do good work.

Pros

You will get to learn AWS in depth if you have good mentor.

Cons

Depending on manager you get, it will be highly metric oriented and it does get toxic to work in the team, management does not understand anything about technical complexities and are solely focused on metrics, plus if you get bad manager changing jobs internally can also get frustrating as they will give negative reviews to your new hiring manager.

Pros

Working at Amazon was a great learning experience in a very fast paced environment. Customer obsession in high demand by filling customer orders & a constant push to get the job done.

Cons

HR Department at the warehouse I was at is horrible and needs to be revamped. As an area manager, you're treated as a grunt, managing grown adults that have more power than you do as a manager. Employees run the warehouse & if you are an area manager, then you had better look out, you'll have a target on your back regardless of how good you are to the associates.
