Pros

Good work-life balance. Pretty stable in marketing roles. A lot of perks in kind, events, and activities.

Cons

Even after close to a decade at the same band level, high ratings, and managing very large projects, finding vertical growth has been painful. Leadership qualities are defined per a preconceived mould. You either fit into it or you don’t. There’s no grey area in between where people are promoted for their skills, talent, experience, and expertise. Too hierarchical, leaders are laid back, they promote those whom they know or have a relationship with. Diversity is non existent in certain functional areas. Promotions for for Gen X and baby boomers in middle management are non existent.

Pros

Above average number of vacation days - around 5 weeks (including standard holidays such as Christmas, etc. if you choose to take it off) At the upper management levels they seem to care about the employees, but that does not always filter down to the lower levels - it depends on the VP & director.

Cons

Data environment is constantly changing, fragmented and scattered between various platforms, some of which are in-house built and difficult to navigate and develop on - very little documentation & difficult to find information and expertise on access issues, etc. Very little job security - they often do mass lay-offs, unceremoniously eliminating large swaths of employees (even people with decades of service with the company.)
