Pros

Jobs here typically stand the test of time so long as you keep to yourself and not overstep your bounds in this "us and them" environment.

Cons

As a temp or contact worker you will be subjected to discriminant behavior from the employees and should you try to make a suggestion or present a new idea, unless your lips are smack dab on the backside of the right manager, you will be shot down and everything you do will be ridiculed and scrutinized.

Pros

It's mostly a decent place to work, and if you keep your head down, you can stick around for a long time. I've noticed that things move very slowly and projects often stall at least once (and for a significant amount of time) before they get going. I have seen some changes, but they are hard-won and slow in coming.

Cons

Don't try to be creative or innovative. It's not well received, and might cost you your job. It seems that most contractors in ISD are under-utilized and most responsibilities are shouldered by project leads and management, when most highly qualified workers could contribute so much more.

Pros

Benefits: great insurance benefits. they cover a huge portion of insurance premiums. Perks: nice auto lease program, discount on Honda products, parts, accessories. Credit union, on site car pick up for service (for Hondas of course). Polite, friendly, cooperative people. Respect for the individual is one of the company values. Work life balance: everyone strives to preserve 40 hour work week. Training: there is a budget to take training courses. Very customer-centric company: everyone rolls up their sleeves to take care of the customer.

Cons

Change comes too slowly: any improvements are based on building consensus, meaning that one complaint can stop progress --> positive change almost always comes too late. There doesn't seem to be clear long-term planning (electrification). A lot of modernization comes from a sudden feeling like it's an emergency. There's no clear plan on career development for the next generation of employees/leaders. Culture: it is hard to fire people. That means that low performance or offensive behavior are not punished or corrected compared to other companies. Management is not very diverse. In some business units senior management is 90% Caucasian male. IT: company doesn't really invest in IT infrastructure. Software and database or at least 10 to 15 years old. IT can take weeks to fix things, or lead with “we can’t do that/ that’s not my job”.
