Pros

The pumped up environment is great!!! Theres potential to build a team and make great money. All the managers have your back and want to see you succeed.

Cons

DRIVING. Everywhere. They gave me a lead packet all the way up by new york and the driving killed my car and time. I asked for another lead pack and they told me it wasnt the pack, it was me. However, i was making sales all the time before they had me running all over. Its hard to get a lot of appointments from the leads because its kind of weasling your way in for something free to the client and them making them learn about life insurance in hopes to sell them. And its straight commission so while i was driving in the middle of nowhere ruining my car for people too broke to buy life insurance, i wasnt making a dime. Make sure you have a lot of connections in a wealthy area before signing up for this. Because otherwise you'll sink.

Cons

-The leads are a starter pack, so some are older but they are also free, so you can collect referrals from the company leads to get more appointments -Long hours and many days if you choose to make this a career -When in management, you never truly know what is going on with your team in the field because they go out alone and you just do calls at the end of the night and hope what they told you is true -It is hard to find people to hire that are self motivated -The Management is great but it depends on your mentor -I love the culture in the office and the company -I love the positive energy everyone has when someone walks into the office they get greeted with a smile

American Income Life - Analysis

Pros

I learned a few more things about insurance. My location had a pretty nice office setting. Free leads. High volume of appointments hones your sales skills. Provided a laptop - not to keep forever, obviously.

Cons

You are an independent contractor but they treat you like an employee (mandatory meetings). Lack of many important products. Meaning you can't sell the ideal type of policy to your client. This does a major disservice to insurance applicants. I personally saw a client get declined because AIL does not have simplified issue policies. Now she is probably uninsurable. When you are doing more harm than good to your client, you know something is wrong. Some of the products they do have are way overpriced. AIL's term policy comparable to the one I personally own cost 5 times as much! If you have a high level of understanding of the ramifications of what you are doing, you are going to feel guilty working there. I suspect that the overpriced policies lead to a higher than average amount of charge backs. Also, the sales tactics for all intents and purposes are a bait and switch type situation (unless they read the fine print of the letter), so many of your appointments will be pointless and disrespectful. You are a captive agent so no freedom to offer the client a better product. Relatively low commissions. Expect to be asked to drive insane distances without any additional compensation to people that are not in the market for life insurance. If a customer called in to the office to cancel their appointment, the message would not be relayed to me, further wasting my time.
