Specifically for Robert Olson's Agencies
Pros
- Gives people the opportunity to grow a business - You get what you put into it (if you work harder than others, it'll show) - Gives you the opportunity to get your life and health insurance license (but not covered by the company) - Learn a lot about the industry
Cons
- They give you a false sense of get rich quick and use the #1 agent in the whole company as an example. This guy makes over $700,000 a year because he chose to dedicate 14+ hours EVERY DAY to work. - You have to work on Saturdays - They tell you Sunday is "Your day to rest" but they expect you to still do at least 3 hours worth of phone calls to make appointments for the rest of the week - Only get great union leads when you first start, but once you're established, they give you old and recycled leads so it's harder for you to make appointments and sell - Charge backs on any policies that cancel before the 9 month mark - Even though we are one agency, every agent is split up into their own separate teams under an RGA & MGA, and this creates unprofessional and unhealthy competitiveness between the teams. I have coworkers that have gotten bullied by other agents on different teams. - They do not compensate for anything and you have to buy everything out of pocket unless you have an awesome MGA. I had to buy a new laptop because I didn't have a windows, I had to pay for all of my gas, parking, licensing classes and exams, and etc. The bonuses you can receive is based on how much you sell, and most of the time it doesn't nearly cover your expenses. - There are mandatory meetings that you do not get paid for since this is 100% commission. - You don't get benefits until 90 days of BEING CODED (not when you start the job) and health, vision, and dental insurance is very unaffordable through the company
