Pros

Bonuses, when you earn them

Cons

Incredbily white male dominated and the leadership isn't even aware of their blatant sexism and racism. I could have continued to work here if the leadership I was under was not absolutely terrible.

Thank you for your review. We’re glad you benefited from our schedule flexibility while at AIL but disappointed it wasn't a good long-term career fit. This position does require a sales-minded individual and isn't for everyone. However, with hard work and dedication, this can be an extremely productive career financially and personally. Thank you for your contribution to our AIL team and best wishes to you in the future.

Outdated business model

Pros

American Income puts you through the paces and does teach you the most difficult parts of life insurance sales and the kind of work ethic and commitment that top level agency owners have.

Cons

This is a business model that requires 70-80 hour weeks from entry level employees with nothing but 100% commission structure to offer. It is, frankly, designed like a pyramid scheme that only rewards the employees most willing to exploit their friends and family for policies or recruiting, weaponizing your personal life for financial gain. It only rewards agents who want to build out a team of other agents, recruiting and training them with money out of their own pocket. It rewards dishonest sales tactics and intentionally hides its pitch until the very last second, utilizing high-pressure tactics that force misinformed clients to make a decision on the spot. The company’s top salespersons all-time pressure, bully, and lie to clients to get them to buy, telling them they’ll lose union insurance or already-purchased plans if they don’t spend more, more, more. If you don’t want to be a part of this process, the company does not make sense for you. If you just want to sell insurance and do so openly and honestly, there are many other brokerages with better commission rates and residuals who don’t ask you to be a soulless shark only focused on your business and nothing else.
