Pros

- Some of the other sales agents were chill - I was only there for a few months but it got me into the insurance world, which (through my own hard work and determination) I was able to move into account management. Over 7 years later, I am a senior account manager at one of the most successful brokerages on the west coast and making money that was unattainable at AIL. And I don't need to brag or recruit anyone to bring home a steady paycheck.

Cons

- They say you make your own schedule and work your own hours; however, that is far from the truth and they will push you to work 12+ hours/day 7 days/week. - They time how long your presentation is open - so if you have a client who instantly shuts you down, you are supposed to argue and convince them to buy insurance - The way you get "leads" is misleading af. Leads receive "free" accidental death & dismemberment certificates and need to fill out forms with you to sign up. During that process you are meant to coerce them into purchasing life insurance and you are not supposed to leave until you have made a sale. Again, the company is tracking your hours (despite being 1099) and will be upset of your presentation isn't open long enough. - I keep referencing "presentation" - there is like an 8 page long script that you need to memorize and not deviate from. - They do not pay for your licensing courses (which of course are through AIL) or any of your exam fees. I paid for my life insurance license and testing through them but when I left to a legitimate brokerage, they paid for my health insurance courses, put me in a nice hotel for a week with a per diem, and paid for my 1st test (any test after that 1st one, I would have had to pay for, but I passed my 1st time) - They have MLM-y conferences where they get in front of a crowd of people desperate to make any money and shout and peacock about how they've made so much money and go to Disneyland and whatever. It is cringey to listen to, I was disassociating during this event. They are aiming for Wolf of Wall Street but the energy is more like crackhead in front of a 7-11. - You also need to call people who have already bought insurance and try to convince them to buy more! Yeah, like any legitimate life insurance company does that.

Pros

The way they make the company sound, how you have the opportunity to work up , they have all kinds of reps there to assist in training and overall process.

Cons

Once you start it’s nothing like the way they described to you. They sold you on a dream, and the reality is not only is it a pyramid scheme, but all you have to work with is recycled leads that have already been getting called for months. Overall it’s a waste of time having anything to do with these guys.

Pros

Quick money if you are good, driven, self-motivated, and have a good team

Cons

Negative work culture, everyone is gossiping, barely any support, false promises (promising to help you but doesn't, all talk to keep you smiling, dialing, and making their company profit). Communication with home office is inconsistent, they barely provide any support, hard to provide efficient care to clients when home office is disorganized, there is no clear documentation of what needs to be updated on policies, a giant guessing game in trying to cater to clients regarding their policies. Because home office gives INCORRECT INFO all the time. they promise to take u on these vacations but its only if you hit a certain quota for the year, which is a high amount that only top producers reach. no one wants to buy life insurance during the holidays. I killed it in the summer (top producer 4 months in a row) and then during the winter months it was slow paced could barely make a paycheck (and I am good at sales!!!). Toxic work culture (CANT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH). If you want to dip your feet into sales, start at any other life insurance company, as they may even help you pay for your training materials because AIL DOES NOT. Wanna work 60 hours a week just to make an average paycheck for most of the year??? Wanna be told you have to go to meetings although you're a 1099?? Perfect fit for you then! No work life balance and they will guilt you for it. Seemed like an amazing opportunity at first
