Kind colleagues but new CEO brings rigidity and concern

Pros

People are mostly very kind and good to work with.

Cons

The new CEO (Whyte) is really ruining a good thing. From the RTO to messing with incentive pay increases, he has taken a company with some flexibility and good pay/incentives to one that is rigid and many are worried about the writing on the wall as to incentives. Further, there has been little communication with employees and what has come out is confusing and vague.

Pros

-Great pay and bonus structure (although that will likely change moving forward) -Great colleagues who are really committed to the work and the mission -A lot of flexibility and work life balance

Cons

-New CEO is completely overhauling the company -Your boss determines your experience and there is a 50/50 chance they will be terrible -Navigating office politics and bureaucracy is a major headache

Pros

My immediate supervisor and team are fantastic. We collaborate and support each other fully.

Cons

The AMA has historically been a wonderful organization to work for, but that has changed since last year with the arrival of the new CEO. Most VP-level and higher do not advocate strongly enough for their teams with the new CEO. He initiated a mandate to return to office, but he has done a poor job of executing it. He seems generally more concerned about being seen externally as an influencer and thought leader than running the organization. He says he wants to make the AMA a great place to work, but with his current chaotic mishandling of the return to office, he is doing the opposite. Congrats on creating an environment where keeping your job is just as stressful and anxiety-inducing as losing it. New CEO, Dr. Whyte, gets an "F" grade.
