Horrible place to work, the CTIO is a lunatic freak. completely incompetent, he keep working because American Water is a monopoly. No guidance, leadership incompetent, and staff playing politics...

The technology leadership at American Water needs to go. They cant be trusted and the culture is terrible. The political things that go on here is crazy. They have laid off or will be laying off over half the staff and soon to be more. The best part is they have an upcoming job fair to hire more staff. That should tell you how much they care about the people that have worked here. They have asked all the current employees to post all over LinkedIN to ask people to come to the fair. They are even offering prizes at the job fair. If you have to give prizes to get people to come work for you, its a sign your desperate for warm bodies not people looking to make a career at your company. Our current IT leaders are some of the worst leaders that have ever run this department and that I have worked for or with. They cant be trusted, they will tell you what you want to hear. They do not care about supporting the employees that run the water business. Now there is talk of more outsourcing because the leaders do not care about support. They had to go on glassdoor and post a bunch of good reviews to try and get rid of all the true honest bad reviews that have been posted by current or past employees in the last two years since new leaders took over. Please do yourself a favor and apply to another company around here. Lots of good places to work for and more importantly good leaders that really care about you not the liars that lead this department. So sad what has happened to this place in the last 2-4 years. They got rid of all the good directors and managers that cares about people and knew about the water business to truly lead us. If you apply ask about what happened to the people that have been here. Ask to talk to the business and the people working on the water and get their view of IT.
