You will be miserable

Pros

Benefits are still decent Tuition reimbursement

Cons

Give it 5 years and leave after you are vested. It is a miserable place to work. The "new systems" are antiquated and your hands are constantly tied when it comes to being productive. The bulk of your day will be handling complaints because they have rate increases for the hell of it (actuarial department doesn't know squat about rating). There is a tremendous amount of infighting amongst departments and none of the so called "executives" seem to be on the same page. You. Will. Be. Miserable. Diversity is nil. Yes, Amica will tout having great diversity initiatives but ask them how many executives of color sit in corner offices. (Hint: take one hand and subtract a few fingers). The company leaders are incredibly pro-Trump and don't hide it. They are comfortable with diversity on the front line (ie phone reps and a few account managers) but it ends there. You can do the grunt work but forget about a seat at the table. Also, they have a mass exodus every February because that is when the mediocre bonuses come out; merit increases hover around 2-4% annually (higher end always goes to butt kissing office favorites). After all of their terrible decisions executives send out employee surveys and negatively react when you give honest feedback. HR is completely useless and full of yes people. My advice is to get vested and run or just run because it is such a horrible place to work. P.S. some poor schmuck has to reply with the "email us your concerns " line because Amica hates bad press. No one is going to reply and they know that. If you reply and still work for Amica then say hello to the huge bullseye you just put on your back. This company is well known for conspiring to get rid of people and paying them to shut up about it (stops the lawsuits and state complaints).

Pros

The company cares about it's employees and has a great retention rate and benefits. There are always additional training opportunities available and good career advancement as long as you're open to relocation.

Cons

Workload can be heavy and relocation is often necessary to advance.

Thank you so much for your review! We appreciate your recommendation and kind words about Amica. We also appreciate the hard work our employees do, and we’d like you to know that we’re actively hiring employees and building specialized teams in order to help alleviate some of the workload. Regarding your comments about relocation – given that the structure of our branches will be shifting over the next 5-10 years, there will be more opportunities for advancement at Amica without having to relocate. If you have additional thoughts you’d like to discuss with us, we’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you. If you’re interested, you can email us at employeefeedback@amica.com . Thank you!
