Pros

Amplifon bullied me and pushed me out of the company last year, meaning I avoided the current mess that ex colleagues have told me about, so in a funny way they did me a favour.

Cons

The company has been on a cost cutting mission for the last few years to falsely increase profit when sales are down. This had a huge effect on the day to day tasks in branch, dressed up as 'a fantastic opportunity to re engage with your clients' - no, doing the job of the head office staff that have been cut. I ended up in branch on my own (safety alert!!) doing what had been the jobs of five people when I first started, because they had cut numbers and then didn't replace my receptionist or the other audiologist when they left simultaneously. Management resolutely ignored the fact that I was looking after two in branch case loads as well as all the home visits singlehandedly as well as all the desk and admit duties with no support when they were threatening me with formal performance review due to poor figures (shocking, given the circumstances...). They set a performance target, and despite achieving more than double what they asked for (and more than 75% of a 2 person budget by myself) they proceeded to take me to formal review. Many company policies (as well a laws) were completely ignored throughout the process. There was no point raising a grievance because I know from a friend's experience that they lie their way out of it. I raised concerns about my own mental health and receive no support. When I phoned in sick, I was not once asked what was wrong - over the course of three months. There is no concern over staff welfare at all. Management have no problem in throwing someone else under the bus to save their own skin. Since I left I have heard reports from friends of huge pay cuts, and enforcing Saturday opening. All this plus an impressive level of incompetence, which can only be getting worse as the good employees seem to be jumping ship.

Poor management and slow software

Pros

Great co-workers. Flexible with leaves, entitled to birthday leave. Sales training for audiologists.

Cons

Low salary compared with other companies. Management pretends to listen to feedback with no intention to rectify reported issues. Software is horrendously slow and detrimental to workflow. Staffs are under appreciated and treated like they are disposable. Profit sharing scheme is confusing and not transparent.

Pros

Nothing much really… well they encourage working on public holidays or after hours for extra money.

Cons

It's all about the numbers. The management is terrible. The area manager, currently on maternity leave, is the worst manager I’ve ever had in my career. She is very pretentious and primarily cares about her own figures and how she appears to upper management. There is a lack of authenticity in her approach. Despite wearing hearing aids herself, she shows no empathy toward clients whom the company pressures us to sell expensive hearing aids. They expect us to maintain a conversion rate of 95%, refit clients every three years at a minimum, or find a reason to refit them under HSP. If you ever want to take annual leave, this area manager will ask you to trade off another workday or choose a specific day so her clinics can run smoothly. She has stated that she can only allow two audiologists to take annual leave on the same day, maximum. If you take sick leave, she feels entitled to know the reason for your absence. She also has a tendency to involve HR if you don’t comply with her directives. Honestly, it's clear that most people are unhappy working here. Many experienced audiologists have left the company, and it seems the organisation can now only hire new graduates or less experienced audiologists whom they hope to train to sell hearing aids. They probably think that these individuals tend to be more compliant and of course no experienced audiologists would want to join given their notorious reputation in the industry. I would advise joining Amplifon only if you have no other options. Additionally, the bonus pay is disappointing unless you happen to be one of the top revenue generators. If you're a client advisor, I suggest you run—run faster if you’re an audiologist.
