Pros

Many opportunities for company-sponsored learning (7 habits, etc.) Generous leave for funerals, health reasons, adoption, parental leave. Up to 3% matching of 401K contributions Great bonuses!

Cons

Pretty evident right-wing political agenda and $$ contributions. Age-related terminations of loyal employees and either hiring inexperienced, cheaper labor/staff or relying on outsider resources. Inability to implement strategic direction, leading to same-old-same-old inefficiencies, inadequate management and failed initiatives

Pros

Health benefits used to be competitive, pays more than anyone else in the area, lots of employee engagement programs (actively trying to breakdown silos), ability to do whatever you want.

Cons

All the pros are actually two-sided swords in that with compensation you'll be priced out of the market (so save those nickles if you don't think you'll retire here). Lots of employee engagement programs (lunches, off-site events, etc) are occurring for a reason: many are disengaged for a variety of reasons. Quite often a lack of disciplined leadership whereas those in managerial positions are not qualified to lead...micro-manage, yes, but ill suited for leadership. Ability to do whatever you want = lack of clarity in roles and responsibilities. The lack of R&Rs here is more pervasive in comparison with many companies due in part to their outward business model (a "people business"), while it's a West-Michigan passive-aggressive company... you'll find it difficult to actually accomplish much meaningful work unless you've been identified as one of those in the top 5% of the company (which is typically more political than performance-based).

Pros

Affiliated with a company that has done great things for the local community and promotes CSR within the organization.

Cons

Too many new Execs from the outside who do not know or understand (or want to understand)the unique Business Model that Amway established via Direct Selling.
