Pros

Very "nice" people to work with, in general. Non-competitive environment. Reasonable work hours and full remote.

Cons

After Blackstone bought Ancestry in 2022, and a change of CEO, "squeezing blood from a stone" became the norm. Instead of investing in addressing significant tech and UX debt, every effort was spent on "shiny new things" intended to attract new (younger) customers. There's no real sense of leadership in terms of setting strategic priorities; everything feels reactionary. The UX org was decimated by layoffs and we never got the recognition nor influence it needed to do its job effectively.

Pros

Ancestry has a very strong employee-centric culture, with great benefits, transparent leaders, and good compensation.

Cons

Ancestry is still developing and standardizing processes, Things could be a little more organized and efficient, but overall things work well.
