Pros

Ancestry.com has great people, a compelling mission (connecting families across distance and time), and is the clear leader in their industry.

Cons

Ancestry.com has some issues where engineering isn't the most innovative, progressive group, although this has improved significantly in the last few months.

Pros

Encouraged creativity and rewarded people for performing well. Had a mentality of innovating to stay ahead of competition, which in turn fostered a somewhat entrepreneurial feel for all the employees.

Cons

Kept a lot of people in the dark when it came to big management decisions. The company was not interested in what the font-line had to say about certain decisions.

Pros

It sometimes verged on a great place but never made it. Paid very well. Good benefits package. Lots of smart coworkers

Cons

Lots of progress over the years but In the early years respect for the customers was definitely missing. Semi-shady business practices with surprise auto-renewals. Much more straightforward now. Management didn't seem to have much respect for everyone below them.
