Pros

6 figure paying job out of college Easy to get promoted because of the high turnover

Cons

* 60 hour weeks (80 hours if you work the weekend too) * Working 24 out of 28 days a month * Working off shifts (graveyard and swing) and frequent switching between shifts because of Covid call outs * Physically exhausting - you walk 6 miles a day in heavy work steel toe boots * Tough working conditions - hot factory floor, loud noise environment, dangerous manufacturing equipment, hazardous chemical exposure * Toxic work culture - managers are supposed to be on “your side” but 3/4 of the salaried have cried because of the way management treats them * Stressful work environment the main part of the job is trying to fix broken packaging equipment. The equipment is always breaking down and is very complex so when it does it could be a long number of things and it is your job to figure it out. After ten minutes of equipment downtime you have to have a reason why it broke. You are responsible for roughly 60 equipment centers so it gets to be very taxing * No breaks or lunch you are just supposed to eat when you find time * Company is notoriously cheap across which leads to under-staffing. Most people are doing two people’s jobs and this leads to issues down the road that you are going to have to deal with

Pros

Decent pay with good benefits.

Cons

-Many times when "why" was asked, the response was, "That's just the way it is at AB". -Little opportunity for remote work because that is not the culture they want to support. -Culture peaches ownership which is good in theory but has created a workplace where departments and teams are hesitant to share or help each other. Often hear language of us vs. them when discussing internal teams. -More talking than listening. Management often makes statements opposed to asking questions, if they approach interactions with collaboration instead we could focus on further maturity of initiatives. -Managers are expected to be the experts over everything their reports are working on. Since this is not realistic managers resort to getting debriefs and foot notes from employees to use in hierarchical meetings. -I was told I cannot communicate with my managers boss, that anything i needed should go through my direct manager. -Low technology maturity - when using even internal systems there is a running joke that nothing is intuitive.

Pros

Cheap health insurance, and good retirement plan.

Cons

I will try to keep this as factual as possible to help anyone considering this position at this location because I did not see any reviews for this location when I applied. If you are looking for a flexible work environment this is not for you. From what I remember the hours are not great the shifts are 5am-2pm, 12pm-8pm, 8:30-9pm-5am. You will start off on night shift because no one wants that shift. The night shift starts on Sunday. The shift is very repetitive work with a tough crew to please. It may be difficult to find someone to cover your shift. There is some training and then you are left to fend for yourself. There is a ton of young people trying to climb the corporate ladder as fast as possible, so people are not afraid to throw each other under the bus. You do not need to stick this out if you have a relevant degree with relevant experience. Please consider other options out there with day time working hours and a better environment. Also if you have a STEM degree the salary max is not comparable to market value.
