Pros

I am very happy that I worked for Annapolis Micro Systems. I learned a lot during my years here. Since I left the company I have had the opportunity to work with boards manufactured by a number of different vendors. I believe that Annapolis Micro Systems manufactures some of the best products in the industry. One of my favorite things about working here was my coworkers. The engineers here are great. They are all very friendly. I think you could ask anyone of them for help and they would be happy to do what they can to help you or teach you what you need to know. They are a great team to work with. Every engineer I knew was very good at their jobs. I think they had to be. It's not a very big company, so everyone has to be very good. If you accept an offer from Annapolis Micro Systems (As an engineer at least) you will always have work to do. They work with a lean team. Work / life balance is very good. You will be expected to a lot of different kinds of work. If you're an engineer you will be working on software, hardware, testing, ... You'll get to work on a variety of things that I don't think a single person would get to work on very many other places.

Cons

No company is perfect and Annapolis Micro Systems is no different. I loved that Annapolis Micro Systems was a small company. It makes you an important part of a small team. It's also a big problem. After a while you realize that there is almost no turnover on the engineering team. That's great for the company as a whole but it leaves no room for growth. The management team isn't going anywhere. They aren't hiring more junior engineers. They don't offer additional training. After a while there really isn't any more room for additional growth. That's why I ultimately left. I loved working for Annapolis Micro Systems and would work there again but ultimately decided that in order to continue to progress in my career I had to go somewhere else.

Pros

Great health benefits, flexible work schedule

Cons

No room for advancement, 401k plan has minimal matching, lack of work at times, very disorganized, lacking resources (software and test equipment) and are unwilling to get more.

Pros

Health insurance covered by company. If you value yourself, you can negotiate a decent salary.

Cons

Micromanagement to the extreme. No ideas, thoughts or wisdom you may have will ever be brought to light because they will go no further than lower management. If work is slow, you will be shredding paper, doing inventory, counting screws, nuts and bolts (because there is no scale)......when you work for the assembly team and you have nothing to do, you can expect to do anything that has NOTHING to do with why you were hired. You can't wear perfume, listen to music (and believe me, this is something that you will want to do), go to lunch with your co-workers (although the engineers do, they like the assembly team to stagger so that someone will always be on hand)....and if it snows....make sure you own a 4 wheel drive vehicle as snow days are frowned upon...and so is LEAVE WITHOUT PAY.....if you don't have vacation or sick time accumulated, leave without pay is not something they take kindly to. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Unless you are the most desperate for a job, RUN don't walk to the nearest exit. If you have ANY experience at all in Space flight, DOD, MIL-SPEC standards, you will have worked for companies that respect your talent.....this is NOT the company for you. If it weren't for a few of my co-workers. my life there would have been worse than it was. If you are used to working independently, this is not the company for you.
