Pros

- Some of the people that work there are really nice and fun to be around. - Company just raised some capital, so it should be able to invest more freely than in the past. - VP of Marketing is a great speaker and represents himself and the company very well. - The event marketing manager is very passionate about what she does. She goes above and beyond to help the company have a great event experience. - Company has changed their name to Annex Cloud from Social Annex, in an attempt not to suffer in the present from past misfortunes and bad experiences. (make sure you review Social Annex on Glassdoor)

Cons

- CEO micro manages everything, almost to the point that he's afraid to let go and give others autonomy. - Leadership talks down & degrades the people that work there- hence the unhealthy comment in the subject line. - Leadership does not encourage creativity or ideas other than their own. Their model of leading is top down and authoritative. - Employees morale is beaten down, like a dog that gets kicked all the time. Unfortunately management acknowledges this, but nothing changes. - Compensation package suffers comparatively to other tech companies in the area. - Budgets don't exist. They'll say you have a budget & autonomy to invest into "your business," but any spending be scrutinized and you'll be in the verbally abused. - Company is not honest about their customers, company size, or employee count. Often they boast to be bigger than they really are. Be aware of this!

Not worth it, will never be any better

Pros

(Some) friendly coworkers, snacks in the office. Talented colleagues who aren't VPs or managers. Location is cool...

Cons

This place is extremely toxic. If you are a positive and optimistic person, this is not the place for you. You will not be the same person when you decide to leave (because you will, and sooner than you'd think too). The atmosphere is depressing, absolutely no one is happy to be there except for the employees who are given a slap on the wrist for not doing their jobs. Accountability doesn't exist for the favorited employees...they know who they are. The CEO has his favorites and because of this, the company is losing business. They say there's an open door policy but if you voice your opinion you viewed as a trouble maker when really they do not welcome change which is the reason they'll say "we're a start up, you know how that goes" and will never be acquired... The product is lacking when it comes to the market, the CEO encourages sales to lie about features we have that aren't even built yet. He is actually very good at lying because he has had some reputable clients, but they tend to leave rather quickly once they figure out what's going on. The pressure to improve isn't felt by upper admins and usually is felt and dealt with by everyone below. Instead of building a better product, product usually just spends time fixing things that should have been fixed, and properly tested years ago. The company does not handle failure well..they'd rather "sweep things under the rug". Yes, the reviews you read about the sexual harassment is true. Some of the men in the office make the office environment uncomfortable for women. Either, they're staring at them every day with no intention to stop looking, commenting on what they have on, or grabbing/hugging them inappropriately. If you voice your opinion, that too, is "swept under the rug". Mansplaining is a big thing here. Women with opinion really do not get much respect. Trust the negative reviews you're reading. I read the reviews and thought that perhaps these were unique experiences and were not the norm. However, this was the first mistake I made. The second was signing the offer letter...

If I had a dollar for every time sexism won

Pros

Snacks, sandwiches, and air conditioning.

Cons

Where do I begin to start. I’ve never worked for an office culture quite like this one. I get the “start up” growing pains, trust me I’ve worked at other start ups before. Let’s start with the CEO because it ends with the CEO. He’s a money hungry, sexist, narcissist. He disguises this by playing both sides, depending on who’s he’s speaking to. He manipulates his employees, lies to their faces, spins their stories behind their backs, convinces them that their unhappiness is their fault. For some reason he seems to justify his behavior, even after receiving feedback from multiple people. My time at Annex Cloud was short lived, and I’m glad I’m out. If I can shed any light on your job hunt, PLEASE DON’T WORK HERE. Your self dignity, sanity and mental health will quickly diminish.
