Pros

The Director is the best I've worked for so far. Since I transferred to a new location, I look forward to going to work because the lab personnel are the best team that I've worked with since starting at Antech 4+ years ago. We laugh and some days are fun! This really helps because most of the work is repetitive and the brain becomes numb.

Cons

Definitely, the HUGE con is the very low pay. Walmart now pays more than some Antech positions and the decision makers at Antech should be ashamed. How do they get away with paying less than a living wage to hard working people with DEGREES?! This is insane. The economy is better now, so hopefully a living wage will be negotiated in my next position with another company. Another tactic Antech uses is to begin everyone walking in the door for a particular position at the same rate of pay no matter the education and experience. Then when annual raises are "awarded," the maximum increase is 3% unless the PRESIDENT of Antech reviews and approves more than 3%. This is written on the Annual Review Form. Supervisors/Managers/Directors are too worried about their own positions to fight for you even if you are a very good employee. The system is set up so that no one will stand up for you...it is just too much work. I am currently paid $8000/year less than the average wage (50th percentile) for my position based on my education and experience. My raise for this year is $0.70/hour, not even a dollar. This company was bought by MARS for 9.1 billion dollars. If there are 25,000 Antech employees...dividing 9,000,000,000 by 25,000 equals 360,000 each...I know it does not work like that but think about it...aren't we worth a living wage to a company like this?

Pros

Two hours per day, I actually do the work that I thought I was hired to perform - hematology, chemistry, coagulation tests and urinalysis. I enjoy working with some of the professional employees and learn from their expertise.

Cons

There is no work/life balance here at all. The work is grueling as I spend an average of 3 hours per day STANDING in one place typing (accessioning) as fast as I can. The turnover rate is apparently very high and the pay is below average. Vacation requests are denied for no good reason. The Employee Handbook states that two 10 minute breaks are permitted per day yet I have never been offered a break by the "supervisor" in a year and a half. The work is not managed. The deadlines are unrealistic. Training consists of the "supervisor" stating "go faster." I'm not joking.

You will receive a pay check and health benefits.

Cons

Stressful environment, long work days, unprofessional management, a lot of work gossip, training is minimal, and Lab manager speaks disrespectful to staff members.
