revolving door of chaos

Pros

+ Some great people here who actually care and are thoughtful and want the company to succeed + Company embraces being fully remote - though with the amount of last minute fires set off by the CEO, you'll lose out on work/life balance

Cons

If you have another option in this market, take it. Don't work at Apollo. Fundamentally, the CEO has no solid direction and constantly changes vision, micromanages people many layers below, and cuts people off in conversations and overall acts in an unpredictable manner that makes the company deeply unpleasant and hierarchical. Because of this behavior, leadership is a revolving door, senior leaders usually stay for less than a year which adds to the chaos of okrs and strategies changing multiple times even within a quarter. If there's a new plan in place, it's because the CEO said it's the new plan and everyone is meant to just follow in line. Industry headwinds and initial product bets put Apollo in a winning position, but arbitrary leadership decisions get in the way of fully realizing their potential. It's unfortunate.

Pros

The company has Product-Market Fit. The product has amazing potential. Hired the right people for the job and most people were incredibly kind and hard workers.

Cons

CEO lacked strategic vision and pivoted road map constantly. A huge amount of focus was placed on busywork- while key decisions like budgets were impossible. No empowerment of employees and morale dipped. Strategic firings of senior leaders around cliffs makes this company difficult to believe in. There was a lack of transparency and a shift in values. CEO and most of the founders are very young and are hard to reason with. CEO and founders also suffered from founder syndrome- look it up. Heard CEO was replaced, but might be too little too late.

All remote flexibility and decent benefits. Competitive cash salary. Smart people.

Cons

Lack of empowerment at all levels and demoralization as a result. Non-competitive equity packages. Unclear/unfair performance assessment. CEO micromanagement. Favoritism and gossip create a toxic culture.

We are genuinely sorry to hear about your experience, and we take your concerns seriously as we work to create a culture that empowers and supports all employees. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the flexibility, benefits, and talent at Apollo.io. Our goal has always been to attract and retain incredible people, and we recognize there’s work to do to ensure they feel valued, empowered, and heard. Empowerment and Leadership Turnover: We deeply regret if any team members have felt disempowered or unsupported. We are actively investing in clearer frameworks for decision-making, leadership training, and performance assessments to foster a more inclusive and empowering environment. Equity and Recognition: We understand the importance of competitive equity packages and are currently reviewing our offerings to ensure we’re providing fair and meaningful rewards that reflect our employees’ contributions.
