Awful, self-serving management that aspires to be more corporate when that means treating employees like overworked, easily replaced commodities, but uses its nonprofit status to excuse low wages, poor infrastructure and insufficient staffing. I second another reviewer's comment that other locations seem less dysfunctional, and some managers treat their teams professionally (conservation and finance come to mind). But generally speaking, the Boston office is an unpleasant environment in which to work. They oust long-term employees and replace them with temps and contractors. In a recent round of layoffs, they gave the affected employees an hour to get out--including someone who had been there more than a decade--and their health coverage ended that day. Nice.
