      Company raises flushed down the toilet

      Pros

      Relaxed environment and good place to build resume experience for out of college grads.

      Cons

      Several years of raises that constantly fall below 1 and 2 percent of salary across the board in all departments. Management has blamed economy and senior management. Meanwhile Applied has made two major acquisitions and spent renovations on granite counter topped bathrooms and a top heavy staff of VPs.

      Pros

      They will hire basically anybody even if you have no experience for the job for which you are applying. You get your birthday, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve off as a stat holiday.

      Cons

      The pay is very low, the training is mainly train yourself and some of the products are terrible. Micromanaging at its finest! All you hear is about how much money the company is making but come review time they do everything they can to make sure you don't get a raise and if you do it doesn't even cover the cost of living.

      Great place for people who just want a 9-5 with minimal pay or are looking for a stepping stone

      Pros

      Almost impossible to get fired. Minimal expectations. Easy to move up since there's significant turnover.

      Cons

      Bad pay. Minimal raises (if any) even for good performance reviews. Incompetent and oblivious management. Not a place to improve your skills. Code base has no standards. Only requirement is "does it work?". This is the ultimate growth company, in that nothing matters but growth (increased revenue). I've seen way too many decisions made by management that were bad for the product/client but were approved because they meant a little bit more money.
